Finance for a special needs school and nursery for the Jewish community
The Challenge
Located within the London Borough of Hackney, Side by Side is a special needs school and integrated nursery, catering to children between the ages of two and 19.
An integral part of the local community, the school offers a unique environment for all its children, including therapy sessions, an afterschool club and extra-curricular activities.
The school was in the process of raising funds locally to develop its new premises that would increase capacity from 80 to 130, however required an experienced specialist lender to provide further capital to complete the project.
Opportunity & Outcomes
We were able to support Side by Side by agreeing to advance £5M, which allowed the company to complete its building work whilst its fundraising continued apace.
The generosity of our community is astounding, and we are immeasurably grateful to those individuals who have secured this facility from OakNorth. Our building work continues, our fundraising efforts continue but OakNorth’s advance will ensure that we will meet our target and open as planned next year.
